WOYWW - 22nd May 2013

Here we are again ready to do the rounds of the blogs of the world! I actually have two desks going at the moment (3 if you count the one I am sitting typing at)!
When I was unpacking new furniture and things I found a couple pieces of cardboard that looked fabulous... and Chris, bless his heart, he didn't even query why I would want to keep them, just nodded in that resigned sort of masculine way that indicated he was prepared to just go with the flow, even though we had a garage full, floor to ceiling, of the stuff!  So I gathered a few bits and pieces from various drawers and cubbyholes and had sat them all on the desk till a light bulb lit up in my head.
Just look at it... I just knew it was going to be fabulous if I peeled a bit of the paper covering off!
It reminds me of honeycombs... I keep expecting to see a bee buzzing around my head at any moment.
This is it at the pre-glue it all down stage... so it may look nothing like this in the end and has been moved to a table next to me while I figure out what to do next...
and on my desk is this... yes, ATC's for next week!  I am going to make 12, one for the woyww4 list and 4 others already have homes to go to.  That means there are 7 going begging... so if you would like one, mention it in the comments and I will do a first come first served.  I allotted $30 to postage for these but if that gets bumped up, I may make a few more, but there are no guarantees! LOL
If you are reading this and wondering what on earth I am rabbiting about go to our esteemed leader's desk here and read all about it... you really won't regret it!

  1. Hi - I just knew when I saw your first picture that it would turn into something super duper! What fabulous card you unfolded! Really looking forward to seeing the end product.
Would love to swap an ATC with you as I have long been a fan of what you do. Hope it is ok as I am in the ;UK.
Thanks for the peek into your world and your earlier visit to me.

  2. This reminds me of the paper I kept from a friend's new weight scales. It was fantastic.

I'm sending you an ATC, but don't look for it near the 4th anniversary. It will get there along with a few other goodies I'm accumulating for you. I might even have something for the "kids," too.

Happy WOYWW from #10. BTW, your post isn't showing up on my sidebar.

  11. That cellular card is absolutely fab (in your hands) and that shape is so on trend right now - Stamping' Up are all over it!! Isn't the light over your desk fab. Postage is a bummer in terms of cost for the ATCs, I think you're very generous to join in with such numbers.

  12. well this is really a case of what some see as rubbish we see as treasure and your cardboard really is treasure. Look at that honeycomb effect I think you need to find a bee to place on it somewhere.
Sending hugs and hoping you have a great day

  13. Loving that card, it does look fab with the cover peeled! It actually looks just like a wasps nest to me.

And the reminder that I need to finish my last few ATCs (seems like I've been saying that for WEEKS)

    Happy WOYWW!

  17. I tis the only way a guy can survive marriage to a crafter and after a few hundred years they start bringing you bits they found. My DH is relieved I have a gear die.

I would love to swap an ATC with you and after the current desk filler is completed ,hopefully to day i will start on mine.

  18. That's some fabulous paper. It does look like bees should come flying out of the little holes.

  20. I can see why you'd expect to see a bee at any moment! tee hee. I've been collecting Starbuck wrappers for a while and now have a few coffee friends collecting them too.

The layout looks great - it'll be interesting to see it once everything is glued in place.

    Thanks for visiting me already!

  25. I wanted to tell you, I don't expect an ATC in return for the one I'm sending you. Mine will be very late, anyway, because I refuse to pay all that postage for one little piece of card stock and I have nothing else ready at the moment. But there will be other opportunities for us to swap in the next year and a half, so save your pennies, or whatever denomination they have in Australia.

  26. The ATC's look very exciting! I can't get in too deep with making these, so I'll pass for now. Hoping to get ONE made, lol!
Great idea with the cardboard. Creative mind!

  28. It's ok, you're with a fellow group of hoarders of cardboard...we all understand!!
I read your previous couple of posts and LOVE your poppy quilt and assorted creations!! Binding the quilt is my least favourites part of the making... I hate it, even though it makes othe Quilt look finished...blah blah blah. The big ribbon is genius!!

  33. Hello there your work is fab. I bought a ready meal just to get a separator in the packaging that I could use as a stencil. Someone else had bought the meal and showed it me . My DH didn't bat an eyelid :-) Sorry I'm late visiting. Anne x #73

  34. Well, I think using an old packing box for a journey piece is just about as apt as it can get - at least, in your case it does! Glad it's all going well out there for you...

    Thanks for stopping by!
