Now anyone who follows my blog regularly knows that I have been away on vacation and when Julia announced the date of the second anniversary I was really upset that it coincided with me being away.... because last year on the first anniversary I was in the middle of moving from Saudi Arabia back to Scotland before then packing up again to come out here to Canada.... which made it impossible for me to join in the celebration. So finding out that I was also going to miss this one was pretty disappointing.... I asked Julia if I could make a PIF and send it to her as she wouldn't be on the linky list and then she could PIF me back... so that's what we did.... but then someone actually got a calendar out and announced that the second anniversary wasn't going to be two weeks ago but this week! Poop... too late, already done the deed and sent the PIF's in both directions!! So this is the lovely canvas that Julia made for me....
and I love it... so many lovely quotes and bits, thank you Julia!!
This is the canvas that I sent to Julia...
and when she gets bored with that side she can turn it around...
and of course, the WOYWW letters hang from little chains on the side...
and sitting on my workdesk this week are a few of the bits I bought when I was in New Orleans... which is the home of the Voodoo Queen, Marie Laveau. I picked up a couple of Voodoo dolls and a fabulous notebook and some pens and stuff... woo hoo!
Isn't the notebook fab? I think it will make a great journal for my trip!
and the coffin with the little Voodoo doll inside!!
Happy Second Anniversary of What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday!!
I wondered why there was no star next to your name. I know you are big on participating. And this is the perfect time for you to participate. There you are with your chains, too!
ReplyDeleteCan you get any better than a VOODOO Doll for VOODOO VIXEN? I don't think so.
Fabulous stuff as usual, Annette. I love what you made for Julia, it's so you, and I'm glad that this way Julia got her PiF as well, because I was wondering about that. Lovely PiF that Julia sent you - you two are lucky!
ReplyDeleteTotally love the voodoo doll in her coffin!

I love your canvas (or Julia's canvas) such a great idea to do the back as well!
ReplyDeleteI have often wished I had a voodoo doll, there are a few men I wouldn't mind sticking a pin in, but am a bit of a scardy cat and worry that I will conjure up all sorts of trouble for myself-just best to let the mean old men find their own trouble :)
Happy WOYWW, oh an I also love the notebook, I have a collection of notebooks that are too pretty to use. I think if I had yours, it would fall into that category :)
Great Pifs from both ends! Love all your Voodoo bits!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW birthday!
Lots of hugs,
Cardarian

Those are fabulous canvases! Esp love the that there are 2 sides! You're definitely someone who doesn't settle for anything but fab!
ReplyDeleteI have to say though that I'd be scared to have a notebook like that! I don't think I could write in it. Call me a scaredy cat! It took me 2 years to forget the scenes in The Sixth Sense. Patsy from

ReplyDeletewoyww is indeed an institution, so good to be celebrating two whole years, and long may it continue,
ReplyDeleteI love the VooDoo findings, never quite sure why it doesn't creep me out, i kind of like macabre, the 'you can't live if you are afraid to die?' thing is probably why...

I love the canvas and am not a little embarassed by my effort. And no, I had no idea about WOYWW longevity - it's silly really! Good that you're back and that you had such a fab trip - although, hmm, your souvenirs arent what I'd have chosen!!

Getting around eventually! Love your canvas - the double sided idea is awesome and the letters are such a great touch too. Well done for remembering Julia, it didn't occur to me that she wasn't on the list, I don't know why. Love your voodoo cache too.
