Calgary Zoo Lights

The Zoo, here in Calgary, puts on an amazing display of Christmas lights over the Christmas period and Odelia and Alister and the two boys took Mum, Chris and I to see them on Tuesday evening... and it snowed and snowed and snowed!  The weather forecast said it was only going to get colder as the week moved on so we bundled up and traipsed our way round for two and half hours - resembling snowmen more and more as the evening went on.  Luckily it was only -12 degrees!! ;)
The big cats....
The elephant...
An ice sculptor at work...
It was incredible what this guy could do with a big buzz saw!!
All the photos were taken by Chris.... because my little hands were tucked into big fat mittens and hiding inside my pockets and that is where they planned to stay! ;)
Mum, myself and Chris under the big tree.
Odelia, Alister, Kyler, Merrick and Moi just before we headed off to find a bonfire and hot chocolate stand!
Wishing You All a Very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!!

  5. You are not going to believe the temperature here yesterday. It was 65 degrees F. I spent the entire day in shorts and a sleeveless top, stripping my house of Christmas decorations, cleaning it really well, and putting it back to "normal." When I came to see what was going on in your part of the world, I saw how cold it was there and how warm and toasty you looked in those white mittens, fur lined boots and furry hat.

Chris took some great photos. My favorite was the elephant, but I also enjoyed the ice sculptures and the "family" photo.

Happy New Year, dear friend. Here's to continued visits in 2011.

  7. I love those ice sculptures as well as all the other photos! This must have been wonderful although definitely cold (I just spent some VERY cold days in the desert, so I can relate). Happy new year to you, too, and I look forward to seeing all your fun art projects in 2011. You are such an inspiration!

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comment, it is truly appreciated - sort of confirms that it is more than my Mum and husband that read this thing! :)
