What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday 14th March 2012

I lost an hour this week... and still haven't caught up so there is no surprise when I look shocked to find that it's that time of the week when we all show our desks!!
So here it is... my altered book is in the background and Elizabeth will notice that the door knob has been removed temporarily so that I can actually work in it... good job it just screws in and out so not a problem.
I'm chuffed to bits with the way the niche turned out and really looking forward to getting on with some of the pages now!
This is the niche... it's supposed to be an Apothecary Shoppe Window.
and dear Elizabeth must be rubbing off on me because also on my desk is the pile of dictionary papers that were removed to make the niche!!
so as I had bought the rabbit and it is covered in book papers, I thought I would put the offcuts to good use and cover a pile of those polystyrene eggs with them for a table display for Easter. The bags of chocolate eggs at the back are going to the children of friends as soon as I have figured out a novel way to present them... and if those bags remain intact from now till Easter... and if I were a betting woman?... ;)
and at the front of the desk is what arrived in the post this morning from a friend!!  Isn't that the most fabby ribbon?  I am planning on making a book to celebrate our Queen's Jubilee year and this is definitely going to be in it.

  1. OH I love how you plan to use those off cuts. I LOVE that rabbit. SO, so cute. I see you and I are earlier than Julia today. She may have slept in (grin). BTW, all of a sudden my photos showed up. Don't ask why, but they were there right before I came to visit you!

  3. I figured out why we are early. England is not on daylight savings time yet. So, that puts us an hour early for Julia. Thought you might like to know. At least I HOPE that's what the deal is, and she hasn't set her post for six in the morning (grin).

  4. It's going to be 21C here tomorrow, I bet I can sit on the deck for a while when I get home from work! Spring is rarely here this early, most likely it will snow in April! Loving that little book niche, I've enjoyed seeing how these are all coming on for peeps each week. Ribbon is very apt, and I'm putting my money on the choccies disappearing way before Easter!

  13. Ooh, I rerally need that ribbon. It is perfect. In fact, I love your rabbit too and your ideas for the Easter display. I hope you will show it to us when it is done. Thank you for your visit this week and your lovely comments. In addition to the coffin wood stool, we also have something else in the garden which is probably older - a seat from the last of the old Walsall trams - the back rest just moves across for when the tram changed direction at the terminus (It did not turn round, just went backwards or forwards). It does need a bit of renovation now to replace rotting wood, hopefully this year. I love having old family stuff around, and the memories they hold. have a very good week. xx Maggie #17

Have just cut mine out and gelled it as you would guess if you could see my fingers - hands were invented before paint brushes don't you know.

  45. It's not a mess, it's an experiment. It's not a mess, it's a technique (grin).

BTW, I'm even MORE thrilled that you removed that knob. I KNEW it was going to get in the way. I suggest leaving it off until you have finished the book. You will be much happier if/when you do! And yes, I'm more than thrilled with your niche. You are a STAR and put me to shame!
