Dress it Up

I was having a play with the dress forms and had a light bulb moment with a Tim Holtz bird cage die cut!  So this is what happened....
This is the front, with the birdcage over the dress and little brads and embroidery thread to give the illusion of a bustier.
This is it from the side.  I can so imagine the lady sweeping into a ballroom with her red and black gown.
and here is the rear view, with the two birdcages cut and joined together to give her a lovely bustle effect.
I don't know about anyone else but a couple of decades ago I would have worn this!! ;)

That is so cool. Have you seen the bbc cranford series 2 (2 extra episodes, not really a series as such)? This reminded me of that, because in one of the episodes, one of the characters orders one of the victorian wired skirt things, mistaking it as a bird cage much to the amusement of her neighbours!

Great dress! It reminds me of a Toulouse-Lautrec painting (Jane Avril Dancing). Very cool!
I can't wait to see what lightbulbs go off next month! I know you'll love the artist I've chosen for February!

I'm struggling right now, still in such a slump. And here you are, coming up with ideas left and right, backwards and forwards. That lightbulb moment is so original. I wonder if TH would have thought of something like that. You sure make it all look SO easy. Can you send me some of your enlightenment?

Oh, and when are you going to show us that new Pandora bracelet?

Annette,
Thank you so much for dropping by to see my dress...I have thought a lot about your dress since I first saw it. It has taught me to really look outside the box more and not play it sooo safe. I really love yours. I want to follow your blog but both times i have been here it won't come up...I would be pleased if you decided to follow mine. I can't wait too see next month's dress.

Lol, hope she's also got one of those Eskimo coats to put over the top of it too, especially if the dance she's going to is in your neck of the woods!

Thanks for the BDay wishes, I had a great day and got some lovely new crafty items, amongst other things. Not sure if you hit the right day to comment, (9th), as you're on a different time zone to me Wordpress decided you'd commented on the 10th anyway!!

I applaud your creativity!! The dress is just gorgeous. Isn't it wonderful when that "light bulb" goes off. Sometimes I have a "flood light" moment...LOL!

This is SOOOO clever, I love the idea and yes, I could see a grand lady coming into a ballroom with the gown and all eyes upon her. BEAUTIFUL!
