What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday - 11th January 2012

Where did that week disappear to?  I have been busy making some books for a swap I am in... the first one is finished but I can't show it to you as it supposed to be a surprise for the recipient.
So it is hidden underneath that white sheet of paper.  I went with Julia's trick of standing on a chair to take the photo... it does make it a different viewpoint when seen from the ceiling!!  You can see on the desk at the front a teeny weeny little book that I am playing with... I am trying to teach myself how to sew signatures properly... it would have perhaps been smartest to learn on something a little bigger but I love how it has turned out and now I know that a normal size book will be a piece of cake!!
Isn't it cute?  All sewn and stitched by hand...
This is the front cover and as you can see it is teeny!!
I forgot to add the photo of the gorgeous Doone art doll that arrived in my mailbox last week... she is lovely and resides hanging from my windowsill.... so far the cats have ignored her which is brilliant!!

Don't forget to go over to Julia's for the linky list... and I promise to get more visiting done this week... straight after I shovel the driveway of the snow... it's a bit nippy out there at the moment at -11 degrees C.

  1. Wow! I'm impressed with that tiny tiny book. You did GOOD!. I shy away from books that must be stitched. Did one, one was enough! And Doone's doll is absolutely adorable.

I'm simply thrilled to see your desk from this angle. So I see you "got high" to take that shot (grin).

  4. The tiny book is gorgeous - it's something I've been meaning to learn about signatures etc.

Poor you having to shovel snow at -11 degrees - that does not sound fun.

Also loving the art doll - simply gorgeous!

  7. Wow, that book is seriously impressive, you must have the patience of Job to attempt that!! I know for a fact that my fat fingers would simply be too clumsy :D
Snow - at least someone's getting normal winter weather, it's been crazy mild here. We need some frost to kill of the germs!!

  20. There you are in snow, we left England where it had been rainy and now we are in sunshine. Well we would be if it was not the wee small hours (jet lag!).
Must remember to do a shot from a chair, that is a great shot of your desk. Love your little book, I really enjoy sewing books but not "things" (ie dressmaking). Can't wait to see what was under the white paper.
Thanks for sharing - Hugs, Neet #7

I don't envy you the snow or the temperatures - I'm stuggling dealing with temps of around 9C.

  29. ha , those cats are just waiting till you look the other way, ganache has catnip in her knickers....

I adore the teeny tiny book, if you are interested, I loaded up the destructions for cord bound books on my downloads tab on the web site...it's much quicker and easier than coptic stitching, if you have multiple books to do and you are on a deadline....

  35. That little book is very impressive! I love taking the picture from up on my chair, but my chair is a bit rickety, so I get scared I may fall...onto the desk...and break it! Your new doll is beautiful, I'm glad your cats are showing no interest in her!

    Happy WOYWW! Katie #10

  37. What a fantastic little book - love it! Your doll is so adorable too. When I first saw the picture of your desk, before reading, I was thinking how I loved how you took the picture. Then I read of you standing on a chair as Julia did....great idea! Thanks for the visit today! Happy WOYWW

  38. Great shot of your desk ... when I stand on the chair for the photoshoot, I have to be sure my DH is not around, he gets nervous :) Love your teeny, weeny book - that stitching must be very tiny indeed. I suspect the cat's are just biding there time, waiting for the ideal opportunity to pounce :)) Have a great week. Elizabeth x #96

  40. I love tiny books! That said, don't expect me to be making any. I'll just admire yours and the others from afar.

The photo above the desk is very cool vantage point to take it all in at. I may have to try that some time.

Hope all is well with you, happy crafting,

  44. Im late, sorry! Started at the bottom of the list and OMgee,it;s a long list this week!! Anyway, I have things to say:
I NEVER stand on a chair..I just hold the camera over the table with one hand and squash my boobs out of the frame with the other hand...get the picture!
Signature sewing...I too learned on a teeny books and was far far more smug about it than you are. And then did it on a big book and got hopelessly lost and knotted in the long lengths. Little books are ace!!
Donna's doll is fabulous gal,as for the cats, I'm guessing its a matter of time...and attention seeking!!

  45. I can't believe you've sewn that little book AND sewn signatures too. Wow! The doll is fab and I want her..... LOL
