It's a BeauTEAful Tuesday!

Here comes the sun... da da da da..... hmmm, ok, I won't give up the day job ('what day job?' asks Chris) just yet because tone deaf and me have quite a lot in common!!  It's only 8 a.m. and its sunny and 16 degrees and sunny and I am having my tea on the deck.... and did I mention the sunny bit? ;)
Now, having morning tea on the deck sounds pretty hifalutin' doesn't it?  LOL  It is a very small deck... the type of deck you get up close and personal with your guests.... but when Chris was home last week we went to Ikea for the $1 breakfast and picked up this little table and two chairs so that when the sun finally decided to pop out in this neighbourhood I would be ready for it!!
Tom-Tom and Pandora watched me through the patio screen door... as you can see they are not terribly impressed that I am out and they are under house arrest!!
and yes.... it is 16 degrees!!  Wooo Hooo!  I always want to refer to this gadget as a thermometer but I know that's not correct (I certainly would not want this put where the sun don't shine if you get my meaning)!! I am not sure if barometer would be correct either.... so weather gadget thingy will have to do....
If you want to see what the other Tea on Tuesday ladies are up to, pop over to Kimmie's for the linky list.... I am going to pour myself another cup of tea and soak up the rays.... it's been a long cold lonely winter...

Tea Tuesday

I think spring has finally sprung as the sun is shining and there is just a narrow strip of snow left to melt in my garden!!  Yay... it was a long winter, especially as it was my first in Canada and I am so glad to see the end of it!
I still have my Easter table cloth out... it is so cheery I don't want to put it away too quickly and I made carrot cake so there is a slice of that to go with your tea if you want.
In fact, there are two of them... so help yourself!! ;)
and my tip for getting a frosted cake out of the tub without getting frosting all over?  I lay a piece of aluminium foil along the bottom of the tub and drape it over the edges... that way it lifts out perfectly! ;)
So to celebrate Spring and Tea on Tuesday I made one of my little teabag books to give away.
It has little pockets with 6 different teas...
and all you have to do is leave a comment on this post and I will pick a name on Friday and pop it in the post.  No rules, no have to do anythings, and I will post to anywhere... of course, if you don't want the one I made you can make your own with my instructions if you wish!! ;)
Click your heels and whoosh.... over to Kimmie's for the linky list of Tea on Tuesday types!!

Tea on Tuesday

I hope that everyone is basking in Spring sunshine and enjoying a nice of cup of tea... I have the sunshine this morning but there is still snow all over the ground from the last bout of weather that had me shovelling the driveway.  I have been MIA for a couple of weeks, it got a bit manic here and I had Chris home with me... neither of those things is conducive to a quiet cup of tea on a Tuesday morning!! ;)  Now Chris has left for his first stint of two weeks working away in Fort MacMurray and the house is quiet except for the cats fighting over the sunny spot on the lounge carpet.
This is my cup of tea, a plain old Yellow Lable and my attempt to persuade myself that Easter is a few days away and everything will be springing into green-ness soon!!
Don't forget to pop on over to Kimmie's for the links to other tea partakers!!
Edit:   Psssst.... no I do not have hundred dollar bills sitting on the table.... it is a paper napkin!! ;)

Tea on Tuesday

For my tea this Tuesday I am having Hibiscus again... a different brand though.  This is a packet I brought with me from Saudi Arabia.  (Yes, Elizabeth, I will save you the packaging)!

It's such a pretty ruby red colour, not sure it shows up in the photo though.
My serviette makes me smile... (decorated paper napkin for Elizabeth)

and I thought I would share the instructions on how to brew your cup of Hibiscus tea...  which looks a little odd.... place teabag in cup for 2 - 5 minutes.... add water from kettle.... boil kettle of water.... eh? LOL
Now think Arabic and read from right to left.... still not sure why a man = a teabag?
and now I have enjoyed my cup of tea I must go and shovel snow from the driveway and path... this little lot arrived last night whilst I slept.
Spring?  Did someone mention it's now spring?  Daffodils flowery, crocii peeping through the ground?
My neighbours reindeer still have their little feet frozen into the ground and can't be removed!!  I told him not to bother, another few weeks and we will no doubt be decorating for Christmas again anyway!!
Tootle over to Kimmie and check out the ladies that 'do tea'... they will no doubt have lovely springy pictures of flowers in bloom and be residing on their terrace in the warm!!

Tea on Tuesday

Thank you for the lovely visitors that popped in for tea last week, it was a pleasure to partake with you and return the visits - I had lots of tea!!
I only have shortbread biscuits on offer today because the cakes are actually paper ones I made.  This cup and saucer is one of my favourites, my friend Ping gave it to me when I left Saudi Arabia and it has a cmic history.  In Saudi we expat ladies had to find ways to amuse ourselves so we would have naughty lunches where each person bought a gift to a certain value and placed it on the gift table.  When the time came each person went and picked a gift and opened it... the next person could either go and pick their own gift or 'steal' the one from the previous.... Ping 'stole' this before I had a chance to as I wanted this beautiful tea set so badly!!  When I was packing to leave.... Ping put this into my shipment and whenever I use it I smile at the memories and laughter we had.
They do look rather nice on the cake stand and they have nil calories!!
If you would like to visit the other ladies for tea pop over to Kimmie, who is the keeper of the tea leaves.

Tea on Tuesday - My first!

Elizabeth has been inviting me to share Tea on Tuesday for quite a while... but I only drink 'proper' tea and figured visitors might be a tad disappointed  to find how boring I am!!  Anyways, I promised I would have Tea on Tuesday this week and see if I get drummed out of the tea club or not!! LOL  Of course, Elizabeth then decides to go gallivanting (isn't that the most wonderfully descriptive word)? off to California where the sun is shining and she can have freshly squeezed orange juice with her breakfast and has left me to do tea alone...
and one is a lonely number when it comes to tea because half the fun is sharing it with someone else... so, please, pull up a chair, let me pour you a cup of tea and we can chat of mundane things like the weather or why a certain actress thought that dress was a good idea at the Oscars...
and I will even find you a cake or shortbread biscuit...
and yes, it is a very plain tea... each time Chris and I end up in a new country our first shopping trips are to find my tea.... or a reasonable likeness to my tea!  This entails buying all the teas and then trying them out till I hit on the one that resembles 'my tea' the most!  I was quite lucky when we got to Canada as I spotted the Yellow Lable packaging in the first supermarket we went into and as it was the one I drank in Saudi Arabia I knew everything was going to be fine and I could live here!! ;)
If you would like to check out the other ladies who are partaking of tea.... Kimmie is the hostess with the mostess!!
