Well, this is my work desk this Wednesday morning so I am going to join Julia for What Is On Your Work Wednesday, I have been playing with my sewing machine and new toy - an overlocker!! They had them on special at our local Spotlight and it just ended up in the trolley somehow!!
So I found this lovely fabric with a very Graphic 45 feel about it and decided to update my kneeling stool that I use in front of my scrap desk.
and there was enough material to make an apron to stop ink and paint getting on my clothes
and I trimmed some old cleaning cloth fabric with the heads so now I have this pretty set at my desk.
and here is my new overlocker with the little mat and thread catcher I made for it,
and matching cover to keep the dust out.
Looking forward to visiting desks, haven't been able to do so for a few months, so have missed loads I am sure.
SO glad to see you are back. I've really, really missed you. I'm showing my ignorance here, but what is an overlocker? Sounds like something you had in high school (grin). No number yet, of course.
ReplyDeleteI get it, now. An overlocker is a serger, but a bear is still not a moose (Did you think I'd forget?).
ReplyDeleteGreat new cover you made there with and it does remind me of G 45 too :)

Great cover and thread catcher! I've had a serger for many years but it's not getting much use anymore. Love the fabric, too! Thanks for visiting and Happy WOYWW!

Oh wow you have been busy sewing!!..Love the material and the cover of your new overlocker. I haven't used my overlocker for years or sewn much. I used to be a dress maker by trade but I hardly do any of that now. I used to work in a sewing shop and loved showing people the best sewing machines and overlockers for their needs. I hope that you continue to enjoy yours :-). Happy WOYWW.

What a really nice sewing room set here!Oh Spotlight have some great bargains don't they? I used 1 $10.00 voucher to buy some stiff interfacing for a project. Love that fabric on your kneeling stoolhehe
ReplyDeleteJudy #12. I can't use those as my knees are metal now!!
Ok one of these days you going to have to tell me how you get so much done!! And you always come up with suck neat things. As always love it. #18
ReplyDeleteLove that material. And it's got red which is my favorite color in it. April #20

Wishing I didn't live so far away, I need sewing lessons. Want to make my own craft tote. Love what you have done here. #35
ReplyDeleteFab choice of material and loving all the different things you have done with your new purchases x
ReplyDeleteOh, I've missed you and your colourful projects - you have been busy!! Thanks for the visit - working on the floor is starting to be a pain for me too, must try and do something about it this year (I say this regularly...!) Helen 5
ReplyDeleteLOVE that fabric!! You are soooo talented with that machine - whatever an overlocker is...
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW!

Hi Voodoo Vixen, I had to go back and check where you were living because I've seen that fabric in Spotlight too (I'm near Rockhampton). It all look fabulous, super little thread bag - I needed one of those this week and now the threads are blown all over the dining room and trampled on the lounge carpet - lucky there's just me and hubby here to see them. I love your overlocker cover too. Cheers and have a great week RobynO#30
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty set you've made there. Love it.....I'm sure you already wonder how you ever managed without your overlocker :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Wow you have been busy. Love the G45 style fabric and how lovely that your new toy has its own little 'house' to live in.
ReplyDeleteToni xx
Oh wow you have been busy! I love all the matching covers etc. The red fabric is awesome but I have to admit that the Graphic 45 looking fabric is my favorite. Have a great week and enjoy your serger! Vickie #52
ReplyDeleteClever ideas of using the fabric for your kneeling stool (I am still getting my head around it). Hope you are enjoying living in Brisbane and the heat and humidity isn't unbearable.
ReplyDeleteSandra @61
Gorgeous! Love the fabric. Your stool cover reminds me - I have bought so many UK ironing board covers and they NEVER fit my US board - clearly making my own is the way to go :) Now, just need to find a pattern that fits ..... and some fab fabric, of course. :)
ReplyDeleteback online but slow :(

I love my overlocker/serger. I am on my second one as the first wore out after only 20 years! I took it to the nice man that fixes sewing machines and he told me that it would cost more to fix than to buy a brand new one... Just realised that the "new" one is ten years old now. Good job I have slowed down with the sewing then eh?
ReplyDeleteGood for you getting the overlocker, you have made good use of it so far too. Amazing how things like that just seem to jump into trolley because you can provide a loving home for them to live in. The are so much easier to use than sewing machines.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and great to have you back.

Oooo! I wish I could pop round. I have been wanting an overlocker for some time, but want to have a go before I buy!
ReplyDeleteLove the covers and how long with those cloths remain white?
Hugs

Lovely to see you back Annette and haven't you been busy! Love that fabric and all the items you have made with it - your craft room must look so bright and welcoming now. I've been thinking of investing in one of those kneeling stools too - I'm told they are much better for you than a traditional chair. Looking forward to seeing more projects made with your overlocker. Elizabeth x #76
ReplyDeleteWow! these are fabulous. Stitching is one things I still have not tried.
ReplyDeleteSusan
I haven't had my overlock/serger out of the closet in years. I rarely sew anymore, mend from time to time. Crazy, since I own 3 sewing machines and the serger. There was a day I made ALL my clothes.
ReplyDeleteI really like the fabric you found, it does look G45ish.
Happy WOYWW

Totally gorgeous matching set for your overlocker Annette. You put me to shame - my machines just sit there gathering dust until decide to use them! You will love your overlocker. x Jo
ReplyDeleteHi Annette, thanks for the visit earlier! I too LOVE nearly any Graphic 45 print! And I'm so glad you shared with us exactly what an overlooker was - or I would have been entirely lost! Happy WOYWW!
ReplyDeleteIt never ceases to amaze me how the Pond can create so many differences in one language. Serger sounds sounds as though you are making serge material, so strange to our ears. You have been so busy with all those lovely things you've made. I am hoping they will find the source of the water leak in the morning, but it involves pulling up the carpet and some floor boards in my craft room to investigate, so fingers crossed. Have a good week. xx Maggie #2
ReplyDeleteAlways pleased to meet someone who can sew and do it well.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work, Angela x63

No wonder you have been MIA - you have been busy sewing (since your visitor left I assume). What a lot of lovely things you have made. I would not have a clue how to do the cover for that kneeling seat, that is very impressive and the fabric is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteFunny how so many of my crafting friends are going over to sewing.
Hugs, Neet xx 8 I think x
Firstly thank you for popping in to say hello and for your lovely comments on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI am mightily impressed with all your pictures. I love how you have everything matching.
Have a good week

Okay I don't feel so bad if Bluebeard and Elizabeth didn't what an Overlocker was either. Can you tell I'm a sewing fanatic.....not. :) Love the fabric! Very G45 indeed. You've been missed...welcome back. Hugs and Happy WOYWW! Nan G #101
