WOYWW 310

Yay! I am joining Julia for the Wednesday whirlwind dance through the desks of the world... and on my desk are a couple of cardboard inserts from new shoes I got in the post...

they just look too much fun to throw in the recycle so I thought I would have a go at playing with them and see what happens...

I thought I would do a step back photo shot of the window and layout...it lets in so much light and makes it such a pleasure to work in there... will be glad when the new blinds arrive though, its fine during the day but at night I feel a bit like a goldfish in a bowl!

another pic of the new long shelf I had put up to home all the bits I have altered so they aren't using up good stash space on my units

and the new corner with my desk in place at last... its only taken 11 months but I got there in the end and now have a lovely computer area to waste my time on the interwebs! LOL
I am being a lady that lunches today but will be back later to visit everyone and then I must make a start on the ATC's for the 6th Anniversary of WOYWW... I cannot miss that!

WOYWW 304

This is what my desk normally looks like....
and this is my work desk this Wednesday morning!  I have cleared the wall under the window ready for the new window to be installed... a bigger lower window that I can sit at my desk and look out into the garden... it will make the room sunnier and lighter and much nicer to play in!
and I have been very ruthless with getting rid of stuff that I won't use so that the overspill into the sun lounge is not now a major hoarding situation!

Don't get the idea that I am cured... I still have far too much stash and a lot of it doesn't get looked at because it is crammed into corners of cupboards and I have forgotten it is there... so the declutter is definitely a ongoing situation... but I haven't given up yet!
Happy WOYWW to you all, I will be by for a visit between snow storms... yeah, so much for it being Easter and spring... obviously somebody around here didn't get that memo!!

WOYWW 296

This is my desk this chilly Wednesday morning... you will see that I am just finishing off the 4th little Family Birthday book.  Yes, 4 of them! LOL  You see, there is me and my three brothers... so I thought it would be fun to make us each a birthday book of the family.
This one is for my eldest brother.
My brother with his two children.
So I added photos of the family members to the relevant month in the book.
July is a busy month for birthdays... two brothers, my Dad and my niece
and I left enough room for extra birthdays or anniversaries to be added if needed.
I used some papers for this one that I have had since Saudi Arabia so I feel great that I have made a smallish dent in the stash of papers ... its always difficult making stuff for my brothers because I have to be so careful with colours... all three of them are colour blind and see reds and browns as greens so it will be interesting to hear how he likes this!! :)

I won't bore you with all the pages... or Julia will be on my case for a very long post! LOL

WOYWW 294

I'm on a roll this week... managed to blog two days in a row! LOL  It is really hard to blog when your Mojo has done an Elvis and left the building without any forwarding address!  So after giving the scrap desk a really good clean and tidy in the hope it might encourage him to return.... I thought visiting lots of lovely desks might do the trick!
So here is the desk all tidied up and I now have a radio/mp3/cd player at the side so I can listen to chatter while crafting... and it seems Radio 2 is the least annoying of the airwaves... so when did that happen? A sign that I am now officially old? LOL
On the desk is a handmade envelope with some diecuts for rosettes that I sat and cut out for a lady I was talking to at the local ladies group.  It seems she is a card maker and mentioned trying to make rosettes and I told her I had a machine for that.... LOL
a card I made for her to show how the rosettes should look when finished.
So if you are wondering why I am showing you my desk, go to Julia's and check out all the details and you will be on your way to visiting lots of lovely desks full of wonderful inspiration.

WOYWW 287

Good grief, the days are disappearing at a rate of knots on the one hand... my being ready for Christmas seems to be escaping me at every turn and waiting for the replacement worktops for my kitchen seems to be taking so darn looooong... they are 'hoping' to have them ready to install on the 17th December... which is worrying as it doesn't really leave much in the way of margins to make this a total disaster... and let me tell you, since September I have spent way too much time without worktops and a sink and tap and hob.... especially when originally it would all take 7-10 days.... yeah... they just didn't specify that those 7 - 10 days might have weeks dispersed through them!! ;)
Anyways... enough of my moaning... you aren't here for that but to see my workdesk on this chilly frosty December morning!  I am working on a large envelope style book... it is a work in progress at the moment... which I am making for the same lady that I had a gift wrapped for her birthday last week... she liked her scarf... was totally appreciative and enjoyed the lunch I treated her too but she loved that envelope style packaging I wrapped her gift in... LOL... no, honest, she hugged it to her chest with glee because it had her name on it.... and told me she was going to use to keep her letters in....
So for Christmas I am making her an envelope book to keep her letters in, and a section for postcards and another for notelets and another for bits and bobs and writing paraphanalia... you get the idea?  This is the front cover... it is supposed to look like an airmail letter....
oh and look what I got!!  From Toni aka Misteejay, my first Christmas card and the most beautifully hand knitted scarf you could wish for...  thank you so much Toni, it is wonderful!!
and I got this in the Black Friday sales... online... I didn't leave the house to battle the people in the street... so now I have a fabby new printer and can print things again!!  Yay!!!

WOYWW 283

I'm back!  Wooo hoo!  It seems like I have been away forever and I have really missed all the lovely WOYWW friends.... but I can now sit at my desk and play with paper and glue again... so I am definitely a happier bunny.  This is how my desk looks at silly o'clock.  I am making a mini book.  Thought I had better make a start on a few gifts as the big C word is looming high on the horizon and I haven't even made a start on C cards yet!
This is the stepped back a bit photo... you can see that there is still a lot of sorting out to be done but at least everything is out of boxes and I can take my time in finding permanent homes for things.
and a quick turn to the left reveals more mess.... and a lot of patterned paper... probably wouldn't need to buy anymore in my lifetime... and am going to have a go at using old stash before buying any new and see if I can get the stash levels down to a manageable level... yeah right, well, a girl can try!!
I am looking forward to visiting people and catching up on what has been going on in the last 6 months... if Julia hasn't kicked me out for being AWOL for so long.

WOYWW 5th Anniversary!!

This is the state of the desk on this 5th Anniversary of WOYWW... yep, boxed up and ready to go!
This is the rest of the room... the packers come in next Tuesday and load onto the shipping container on the Wednesday, so this will be my last WOYWW from Australia.
Here is the PIF ATC for the name below mine with an asterisk.. I have sent all the others out already and saved this one for today so its just a case of popping it in the post.
Here is the lovely Pandora, she had her 5th Birthday on Monday this week... and she is not looking forward to her flight home... :(
Tom-Tom says he will cope as long as there are treats at the end of it...  don't think he has figured out that he gets picked up next Monday and flown to Sydney, then they stay in Sydney till their flight on Wednesday to Heathrow... where they get checked over and then boarded for the night and have to catch a flight to Aberdeen in the morning of the 6th June when we will also arrive and go and fetch them from the terminal.  Poor little things....
Happy 5th Anniversary of WOYWW to you all but especially to Julia, thank you for thinking o f it, and keeping it going!

WOYWW 257

Here we go again.... sung to the well known tune of same name!  Yes, here it is Wednesday already and my desk is looking very bare... except for some ATC's I started for the big swap... but haven't finished yet.
I was actually congratulating myself last week because I am normally in the throws of moving when the WOYWW Anniversary comes around... and here I am in the new house and unpacked already!!  Except I thought too soon... cos we have now been giving our leaving Oz date and it is in 4 weeks.  So I am now in full on get cats paperwork sorted, get lists made, find out about shippers, sell off anything that can't be shipped mode...
So before I get the packing boxes out of the storage cupboard and start packing again.... (insert your own expletives at this point because all mine are used up) I thought I would take a step back and show you the scraproom before it goes into dismantle mode.  This is my working corner, the scrap desk and computer desk under the window..
and the rest of the room is storage for stash.. oh and little Pandy keeping me company in a cardboard box on the floor...
So if youa re wondering what I am rabbiting about with visiting desk, check out the leader of the desk snoop, Julia, for all the details.   I will be around to visit peeps, leave me a number to keep the process fast and easy and if anyone wants to swap an ATC... let me know in the comments.

WOYWW 256

It is Wednesday and that means its desk time with What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday lead by our wonderful desk snooper, Julia.
So this is my desk this morning... I have just put the finishing touches to Flat Susan's Journey book that I made for Neet.... poor girl thought it was lost in the post but it was in my UFO box.... LOL
This is the front cover... I have kept it deliberately flattish because this book took on a mind of its own and grew faster than Pinnochio on a bad lieing spree!!
Side view... yep, it did get a bit chunky, didn't it?
and the drawers in the base didn't really help matters...
in between the drawers is a little book for Neet to add all the participants names.
here it is opened up, made with my coffee papers and then stamped
LOL... would you look at that spine!!  What can I say... sorry Neet, it aint dainty!!
it's a solid chunk and weighs half a kilo... I know this cos I took it to the post office to see what damage it was going to do my wallet in postage... less said about that the better...
So the pages are pockets... and there are tags inside all the pockets and on the front of the pockets is.... pockets.... and tags inside those pockets... yep, you get the picture.
More tags and pockets.... and stamping and rosettes!
and there it is done.... and off to the post in the morning so look out for it Neet... its heading your way, hope you like it!
Sorry about the long post... mostly photos though...
I'll be along to visit peeps shortly... leave me your number, it really does speed the process up!

WOYWW 255

Here is my newly relocated desk and lo and behold she even has stuff made on it! I know, amazing eh? LOL
I have to say it is nice to be back in my scrap room and bale to sit and play, enough of all those boxes and packing and unpacking, it's no fun at all!
So, it is a little concertina envelope tag book thingy... I am sure there is a better name for it, but you get the idea?
With all the tags with mounts for pictures and on the back a little pocket with another smaller tag for journaling or other pictures.
After I made the one with little envelopes I thought I would have a go with making the pockets from cardstock, it makes it a chunkier version and I actually prefer this way.
Concertina pockets with the tags
and mounts for pics and on the back little pockets again for journaling and bits.
Its lovely to be back at WOYWW, so please leave me your number and I will be over to visit lickety split to see what I have been missing for the past few months.
I am putting this out early as I have to go to the dentist... but I will be back later to visit!
