This is my desk this morning... the little dressform is still waiting for her final transformation and on my desk are three large pretend buttons that I made to go on my quilt and rejected... they just didn't sit right so I made some smaller versions that I am happier with.
Here is my Graphic 45 Communique quilt on its new home on the sofa in the family room...
It got the Tom-Tom seal of approval too! You can also see that I had enough material to make a quilted cushion for the sofa...
Not bad eh?
and what do you think of my newly invented double binding? LOL I wanted a black border around the panel but I also wanted a patterned binding... so I sewed the black binding to the front and the wider patterned binding to the back and the sewed them together... and yes, it was a major faff but it looks so nice I did the same thing to the cushion... a beggar for punishment.. that's me!
and the beady eyed will notice that above the sofa is a picture... which I have 'altered' slightly!! LOL
It used to look like this... and when we were putting the pictures up a few weeks ago, Chris mentioned that he had never really liked it... so I thought he wouldn't mind me playing with it... at least, I think it was that one he said he didn't like... its been changed for 3 days and he hasn't noticed yet so I think I got away with it...
This is the first set of buttons I did...
and this is the second set... still on the fence post about them...
I love how the puffed up bits look on it... they were fun to do... NOT!!
So with the altered TV unit with the Communique papers and the Ikea box on the top... think that is my family room sorted quite nicely for now!
OK, I'm a bit weird, but I like the ladies better. They stand out more. I realize you like the puffiness, but I like the bit of color contrast. The others just don't stand out enough.
ReplyDeleteOf course, your quilt is awesome, as is the picture. You are a true G45 gal now!!
And I guess my internet held up. We got 1 inch of water every half hour during rush hour tonight. I bet my basement is flooded. I'm too chicken to go down there right now.
Happy WOYWW from #1.

I think your double binding is fantastic. Your buttons are too (both sets) and the whole sewing and picture making is awesome. I am sure it is not long since you said you were not a stitcher but since have grown in leaps and bounds with your sewing makes.
ReplyDeleteThe picture transformation just sets the whole room off - well done you - and when Chris does notice I am sure he can only like - very much!
Hugs, Neet 66 xx
It looks utterly fab. AM ashamed that I've done nothing with the fabric that I bought apart from think about it. Love that Chris hasn't noticed the alteration to the picture yet...I died my hair last week..a shade too dark for my liking and certainly darker than I've EVER used. Completely un-noticed except by girlfriends!!
ReplyDeleteWow Graphic 45 comes in material form? where can I get some?
ReplyDeleteBridget #15
The devil really is in the detail..the border of the quilt is perfect..you needed the black but the patterned fabric just sets it all off. I love that fabric, it goes very well with your decor!

Don't be afraid! It is most unlikely you will burn the place down using a pyrography machine. You CAN run the machine with the wire glowing white hot, but I find that doesn't give me long enough to draw the design without it being too dark. The hotter the wire, the faster you have to move it to keep the drawing from getting too dark. So I run the iron/wire at no more than half power. Anyway, enough of me, your work is GREAT! Hope the changes to the picture are approved of - when there noticed that is! Kind regards, John-W #67
ReplyDeletei like your double border, it really sets everything off. nice job. the picture is a nice touch. really ties it all together.
