Zutter's 11 0f '11 Blog Hop!

First of all, I have to point out the flashing Zutter's logo on the right... Jennifer made it for the blog hop and gave instructions on how to put it on the blog - and make it flash and by jove, I managed to follow them and it does!!
I hope you are all suitably impressed - both with Jenn's cleverness and my ability to follow instructions! ;)
So have you made any scrappy resolutions for 2011?  Mine is to be better organised and hopefully complete more than half of what I start! LOL  With this in mind I decided to make Chris a book to keep all his web stuff in.  It is almost impossible to remember where and what you have signed up for on the old Interwebs, all those web addresses and passwords to try and remember.... so I have made him a book to keep track of them.

I thought by using the Kraft coloured papers it would look a bit more masculine.  These were by My Mind's Eye and called Life Stories.

I started by printing about 40 pages on A5 paper... which in real life is cream but due to the terrible light in the scrap room has come out a weird pinky white... it's cream and suits the Kraft colour, honest!

I then made up some cream page dividers and added file pieces so that he can designate sections to his hobbies.

I cut the covers from chipboard and added the two extra bits to the back cover so that it would fold over onto the front cover.

I glued the chipboard to the chosen Kraft paper, ensuring a gap between the two additional bits so that it would fold nicely.

Make sure you get the fold working before adding patterned paper to the other side.

Lay the front cover chipboard down on the paper and then use your blade knife and cut round it.  Sand the edges to make them smooth and ink if you wish.

Then turn them over and paper the other sides of your covers.

Both inside covers are now papered, you will need to run your pokey tool along the folds so that the covers bend easily.

The paper needs to tucked into the fold so that it will bend over the front cover.

Put all the pages, dividers and covers into order.

I added a large bead and some leather twine to make a closure and used 1" o'wires in two pieces to bind it and it is finished!

Graphic 45-itis....

I can't think of anything else... I have been playing with my Graphic 45 papers ever since I went shopping the other day.... they are so much fun!
I did this on chipboard - not sure what to do with it, its too long and narrow for a book cover so maybe it will end up on the scrap room wall when I finish the other one on my desk this morning!!

Whilst I'm down here in the basement playing, the two cats hang out with me.... in the comfy armchair!  They really aren't into sharing space much so it makes me smile when I see them squished into one chair like this... note that TomTom is bagging the greater share but Pandora doesn't care, she is only little and can fit down the side just nicely, thank you!

I am so excited.... my order for my Zutter Cutter and Distrezz It All is now placed and I await the arrival of the UPS man!!  Wooo Hoooo!  I have so many plans for these two tools.... there won't be a safe piece of chipboard in the house... what am I talking about... the Zutter Cutter slices through anything, so nothing in the house will be safe!!  Whilst on the subject of Zutter, Nan, our Queen of the Nanny Goats at Zutters, did a fabulous comparison of the Bind It All and the Cinch on her blog so anyone that has thought about getting either, check it out before you purchase!!  I personally have not seen the Cinch yet but I certainly don't have any plans to ditch my favourite all time scrapping tool any time in the future, if I wanted round holes I would use my Crop-A-Dile! ;)  The Bind It All is such a brilliant machine, it does everything I ask of it and more and I love the way it has brought mini books from 'home made' to 'hand made'.

WOYWW

It's Wednesday!!  I am teaching the other half of the class on a mini book this morning and as I think most ladies will have done their homework and get it all completed by lunchtime I decided to put together a quick 'make and take' for them.... and that is what is on my workdesk this morning!!

Now don't laugh... the best thing to make little calendars with is beer mats.... but this is Saudi Arabia and I couldn't pop out to the nearest pub and cleftywollah a heap of them so I had to cut this little lot from a chipboard sheet!!  And the smaller ones.... and then corner round them all with my Round It All!!  Guess who has a sore wrist? 

Hope they like them, it will be a fun little thing to make anyways!!

Scraproom Clipboard

As one of my Zutter's projects this month I had a go with the clipboard packs. I have to admit when I first got them out of the packaging I thought... no ways is my BIA going to go through this thickness! No probs though... it made pretty light work of it. I decided that two of them side by side would be on the large side so with my knife and metal ruler I cut one of the baords in half and then with my Crop-a-dile I punched holes to criss cross the ribbon to keep them together.

I made a BAI notebook so that I can scribble ideas or deadlines down when I think f them. I added some blue wooden beads to the 3/4" antique brass o'wire for decoration.

I altered a large peg to clip things I am using whilst working at the desk.

When I was in the little tat shop the other day I found these twin baskets and had one of those light bulb moments - perfect to hang off the bottom of the clipboard and take all the tools that I use all the time... just had to disguise that white plastic ugliness first!

I love it, it keeps stuff off my desk and I have something pretty to look at as a bonus. The papers are from the BasicGrey Boxer collection.

The Cow's Head {and other featured creatures...}

This is the planner I have made for my trip to Egypt in March. A country I have wanted to visit all my life and see the pyramids and the sphinx.

Have used loads of different sized pages and lots of pockets for tags and notes. In the back of the journal is a writing pad so I can sit each evening and write about the days activities and then pop them into the pockets.

I used one the Zutter's Cover Alls which makes it even easier to take with me, as I can slip the inner contents out of the cover and take that with me and then put them back in after my holiday.

Chris and I took us ourselves off to the local fish market to have a look around, there is a small veggie section and a row of butchers there as well and I was hoping to be able to pick up some nice fresh stuff.

If I ever mention wanting to try squid.... please remind me that this is how they are sold! They appear to have been plonked on bare concrete with little regard to hygiene or anything else and everyone just picks out the ones they want.... I'll pass on them, thanks!

Red snapper and some really pretty yellow and black fish that looked they would be more at home in a nice aquarium rather than a fish stall! We did buy some white snapper and some lovely big prawns for our tea.
Walking along to the small row of butchers shops we came across a very odd sight... it seems they put the head of the cow on display so that customers know the meat is fresh and where it came from... as you can see... Chris was not totally at ease with this situation.
I decided that I should also have my photo taken with Molly Moo RIP and the little butcher came dashing out to hold her head up for the pic... I think if you look closely you can see that this is not amusement but hysteria at being so close to poor deceased Molly Moo! The beef did look fresh but after meeting the cow's head I didn't really have the heart to buy a fillet or rump!!

The Little Book of Gypsy

This is one of the books for the Zutter's DT. Each page is a pocket with a tag inside, which gives loads of space for journalling and extra photos. You really must go and check out the other girl's projects, absolutely stunning work and loads of brilliant ideas.

Tales of Arabia

Had my first play with the Zutter's Cover-Als with this project and I am impressed. I painted the covers, crackled, painted, stamped, embossed and Bejewelled and they didn't warp or bend out of shape like normal chipboard does!! Woo hooo... I can see me having fun with these!!
