WOYWW 219

and here we all are ready to tour the world squinting into other peoples' craft areas!  You will be amazed at how neat some folk are while crafting and truly gobsmacked at what wonderful things others can make in their own little mess!! Pop over to Julia, our esteemed leader of noseyness, and check out all the fun.
This is my desk this morning... the little dressform is still waiting for her final transformation and on my desk are three large pretend buttons that I made to go on my quilt and rejected... they just didn't sit right so I made some smaller versions that I am happier with.
Here is my Graphic 45 Communique quilt on its new home on the sofa in the family room...
It got the Tom-Tom seal of approval too!  You can also see that I had enough material to make a quilted cushion for the sofa...
Not bad eh?
and what do you think of my newly invented double binding?  LOL  I wanted a black border around the panel but I also wanted a patterned binding... so I sewed the black binding to the front and the wider patterned binding to the back and the sewed them together... and yes, it was a major faff but it looks so nice I did the same thing to the cushion... a beggar for punishment.. that's me!
and the beady eyed will notice that above the sofa is a picture... which I have 'altered' slightly!! LOL
It used to look like this... and when we were putting the pictures up a few weeks ago, Chris mentioned that he had never really liked it... so I thought he wouldn't mind me playing with it... at least, I think it was that one he said he didn't like... its been changed for 3 days and he hasn't noticed yet so I think I got away with it..

This is the first set of buttons I did...
and this is the second set... still on the fence post about them...
I love how the puffed up bits look on it... they were fun to do... NOT!!
So with the altered TV unit with the Communique papers and the Ikea box on the top... think that is my family room sorted quite nicely for now!

WOYWW 218

I have moved desks for today's What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday... I am around the corner at my sewing machine.... see what I got???  I saw this Graphic 45 Communique fabric on Mary Anne's desk a few back and when I asked her to give it to me (LOL) she told me that Julia and her had gone fabric shopping at a store near Julia.... so I asked Julia if she would mind getting me some and she did, what a star!  It arrived on Monday and I have been itching to play with it since I opened the package.
This panel is fabulous and has all my favourite images from the paper range and I was sort of stuck as to what I could do to it... it would be a crime to chop it up, but like scrapping paper that is too finished, you are left wondering what your input to the process could be that wouldn't be detrimental.
So last night in bed, when I should have been sleeping, this idea came to me... if I padded certain images and sewed around them... then put the entire thing on quilt matting, they might stand proud from the flat... so if anyone out there has done this and can tell me the pitfalls... would you yell now please?
It is still winter here... but I can't compain because though the nights get cold the days are a balmy 23 - 25 degrees C.  In my front garden there are numerous palms of different types and this one fascinates me...
Doesn't that look like some sacking or hessian to you?  I would love to peel some off and play with it but I am thinking spiders might live in there.... big fat hairy Australian spiders... urgh...
and I loved the effect of the sun shining through the underside of this palm leaf....
Don't forget to check out Julia and the linky list for lots of lovely desks!!

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday 191

This is my desk at the moment... yep, you are quite correct, it doesn't look very crafty!!
I am in the process of putting together all the documentation for the export and import of the two cats. I am lucky that Chris is doing the Oz side with quarantine etc.... I just need to make sure they get there!!
Papers, vaccinations, documents, invoices... but these two are worth it!!
I did do something crafty this week... made a quilt for our Granddaughter and got it off in the post yesterday and here she is with it!
Little Caitlyn and her raggedy quilt.
Don't forget to visit the linky list at Julia's so you can have a nose about all the different desks!
