WOYWW 212

Here we again all set for the tour of the crafty desk of the world otherwise known as What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday magnificently overseen by our own Julia, the Mistress of the Desks!  If you have no idea what I am talking about, where have you been for the last 4 years? LOL Go check out Julia's place and all will be revealed and you won't be disappointed.
I have two work desks on the go this morning but am working at this one just at the moment...

At the end of my kitchen is a family room type of space, and it looked a bit colourless, so I added the red throws to inject some... but it still needed something to make it look a bit more friendly and welcoming, if you know what I mean?
So yesterday I made this raggedy quilt cushion for one of the sofas and am now in the process of making a second one for the other sofa...
getting better?  So why did I make stars and stripes?  If you follow this blog, you may recall that while I was Canada I bought a trundle guest bed and a trunk from the States... with the stars and stripes on it... well, when I go home from here, these two cushions are for the trundle bed to go with the trunk in my guest bedroom back in Scotland... see?
Everything I do has a plan... it just takes me much longer to see the end result because I am always in another country!!
At my other desk the other side of the sewing cubby hole, are lots of bits... packaging that I haven't managed to throw in the recycle wheelie bin... and I am waiting for a light bulb to go in my brain so that I can make them into something... yep, it could be a while!!

  1. So is the trunk in Scotland? When I saw the pillow, I knew exactly what it would match. Clever you!!

Just think. Two years from this date, you can look back and sigh that you are FINALLY home (and unpacked) for good!

  2. I did wonder about the cushions but it seems you have a master plan! Nice to see a bit more of your space gussied up and made nice! Saw all those really bad floods in Calgary last week and thought of you, good thing you're no longer there!

    Clever cushions!
I also have trouble discarding packaging that could be in any way be useful. And if nothing brilliant occurs it can always be used for ATC backings :)

  14. Love the Cushions. I still get amazed how a few simple cushions and a blanket can change a room. I do it all the Time and am amazed every time.
And I am rather jealous of the trunk. I love Americana.

  19. See, that's just plain clever..I would have gaily gone about equipping the room with stuff for the room and not for the future..loving your newly revealed sewing skills, and as usual, your skill at actually just getting it done!

  20. Hi Annette,
I didn't realise just how big your cushion was when you showed it to me on FB. It's stunning and really does brighten up the space you've put it in. Well done you.

  21. Oh Gosh Annette, if I had as big a room as you have for crafting I would have even more recycling. Love your assortment of boxes etc.
What fabulous sewing you are doing/have done. That raggedy cushion is brilliant and the injection of red into that room has made all the difference. Are you allowed to put things on the wall? Just imagine a big fabric patchwork hanging.
Take care, have a good week.

  25. That cushion makes me want to stand up and salute :) Love the chest too - something about the vintage-y blues and reds (rather than the traditional too-bright versions) really make me smile.

    Love your desk, as ever...

    Happy WOYWW!

  38. I think I sent a partial post. I'm unsure if I hit delete. So if I did, take this one. Apologies for the confusion. I love your pillow. I'm struggling with threading my machine. The last time I threaded a sewing machine, I was in 8th grade. I bought myself one for a christmas present to use in my art journaling. I need to just get it out of the box. BTW…those cupcakes look so real they look yummy enough to eat.I started following both your "FOLLOW ME" boards. I'm new to WOYWW, my 1st week. Looking forward to following you!!
