What's on You Workdesk Wednesday 14th September 2011

Gosh... a whole week and it has disappeared on me... I have been playing with some large jigsaw pieces that are for a swap... the theme is Alice in Wonderland so that is what is all over my work desk... a big fat mess of Alices!!
Hmmm... they don't look much at the moment, do they?  I have done the paint them with texture paint stage, and the cover with tissue paper stage, and the add Alice printed on tissue paper stage... I am at the sanding all the edges stage then I have to do the flatten like a pancake stage.... then comes the fun bit of actually making them look pretty (hopefully)!!
Speaking of Alice... have you seen the new version of Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton?  You should... it's brilliant!!  Chris and I watched it yesterday in the hope that it would give me that extra inspiration... we will have to wait and see if it worked!! ;)
On my other desk are some of the purchases that I got from my latest trip to the scrap book shop.... I was in search of a Bigshot die of angel wings but they didn't have it! :(
but they did have the umbrella man and the tattered florals die and they just fell into my basket!!  Can't wait to play with umbrella man... just need to finish the jiggie pieces first!!
Don't forget to pop into Julia's for the linky list of fellow crafters who reveal various desks in various states of tidiness and lots of lovely things to look at!!

  1. Big puzzle pieces are fun to decorate. I've done a few large ones, too. I think these are coming along nicely and laughed at the concept of "flatten like a pancake stage."

I saw these dies for the Bigshot when Kathy and I were at that scrapbook store that went out of business. I loved the Umbrella man. I thought he would go nicely with some of the embossing folders. And I'm sure you'll be making a bunch of floral flowers soon, too. You never can tell. They might even go with your puzzle pieces. Have a great WOYWW.

  2. Those jigsaw pieces look great. Can we see them when finished? When flattening like a pancake I use about four or five telephone books. Works a treat! (I did an Alice book thing last year. If you are maybe interested have a look at my blog, January, this year.)

  23. The jigsaw swap looks very interesting but I have to admit that I never got into the whole Alice thing! Great new goodies, you had to get something in order to make up for your disappointment that they didn't have what you wanted!

PS. It's getting chilly at night in Michigan now, is it snowing yet where you are, lol!!!

  24. Looking forward to seeing what comes of all those Alice's. I adore the TB version of Alice, I said for years he should make the film, turns out he was waiting until someone approached me with the budget he wanted. The film makes so much sense to me, Wonderland always came across as a scary place to be! I'll stop waffling now, Have a happy Wednesday! Mel #51

  27. Look forward to seeing the jiggy pieces when done.

I've played with both those dies and they are such fun - they do an embossing folder to match 'Umbrella Man' and that is fun too as it looks great 'de-bossed and filled with Glossy Accents.

  36. awesome desk! Just wanted to pop by to visit your blog this week and say hello and see what you are up to! Didn't have the time to post(except about newest Doswell addition) or craft the past two weeks due to being in Virginia visiting with the son's family to see the newest granddaughter born. Definitely a fun time none the less. Hope you have a great week. Vickie aka okienurse
